What we collect.
Almost nothing. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no mailing list. You can read every forecast on this site without telling us anything about yourself.
Things this site does not do
- It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
- It runs no analytics — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts.
- It has no login, no accounts and no newsletter, so there is no form asking for your details.
- It never sells or shares personal information, because it doesn’t hold any to sell.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records requests to the site — including your IP address, the page you asked for and your browser’s user agent. Those logs are kept for a short period and used to keep the site running and to investigate faults. They are governed by Vercel’s own privacy policy.
Sponsor link clicks
Sponsor links go through a redirect on this site so we can count how many people clicked, and tell the sponsor honestly. When you click one, we record the time, which sponsor it was, a shortened version of your browser’s user agent, the site you came from (the domain only, never the full address), and whether the request looked automated.
Your IP address is never written to that log in readable form. It is either converted to a one-way keyed hash — a fixed-length value that cannot be turned back into your address — or, if no key is configured, not recorded at all. We log nothing rather than log something that merely looks anonymous.
We add tracking parameters to the destination link so the sponsor can see in their own analytics that the visit came from FishSoFlo. Once you land on their site, their privacy policy applies, not ours.
Fonts are loaded from Google
The typefaces used here are served by Google Fonts. That means your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com when a page loads, and Google receives your IP address and user agent as part of it. We send Google nothing else, and we have no account or analytics relationship with them. If you would rather this didn’t happen, a content blocker will stop it and the site will fall back to the fonts already on your device.
Where the forecast comes from
Weather data comes from the US National Weather Service and the written forecast is generated by Anthropic’s Claude. Both of those calls happen on our server, before you ever load the page. Nothing about you — not your IP, not your browser, not which spot you looked at — is sent to either of them.
Children
This is a fishing forecast. It isn’t directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including them.
Your rights, and getting in touch
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data an operator holds about you, and to have it deleted. In our case the honest answer is that we hold no record that identifies you. If you want to ask anyway, or you’d like a sponsor click log entry removed, email tchidsey@softwareassurances.com.
Changes
If what the site collects ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. There is no mailing list to notify, so it is worth re-reading if that matters to you.
